Building community is critical for homeowners associations to function. Community association events aren’t simply social occasions. They’re essential ingredients in the recipe for a flourishing community. Behind the scenes of every successful event lies a commitment to nurturing community spirit.
When it comes to service and support animals, board members and managers need to understand they are not deemed to be pets and are not subject to the same rules or restrictions as other animals. Each accommodation request must be handled on a case-by-case basis, and associations may adopt and enforce reasonable rules regarding service and support animals.
In keeping with CAI’s emphasis on building community, the CAI Minnesota and Houston chapters are prioritizing social responsibility through various social initiatives. The goal is to wrap diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives into the outreach efforts. The help provided through these programs is bringing together community members from all backgrounds.
Community association managers wear many hats and must be well versed in a wide range of skills, all of which are equally important. One component of a manager’s role is to completely understand the financial management aspects of a business. This means knowing and interpreting the financial pieces as well as the nuances that come along with decisions.
