Many community association leaders are unaware that most music and movies are protected by copyright. Use of copyrighted work without a license constitutes infringement regardless of intent. If a community association publicly plays music or a movie, it must first obtain a license.

The Thousand Dollar Breakfast Club was formed in early 2023 to bring together friends and business associates in the community association world. They meet for breakfast every three or four months at a local restaurant. The best part: After they eat, the group pools the cash and presents the server with a grand $1,000+ tip.
